Hershey to close pop-up store and experience in Tysons next month

Hershey Super Sweet Adventure will soon kiss Tysons Corner Center goodbye.

The sweets-celebrating attraction — which consists of both a ticketed experience and a retail store — is slated to close on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 7) after staying at the mall for more than four months.

Developed by the “location-based” entertainment company Original X Productions with The Hershey Company, the pop-up opened to visitors on April 24 with an interactive workshop featuring various activities inspired by the confectionary’s most recognizable treats, including Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups , Twizzlers and Jolly Ranchers.

The retail shop, which doesn’t require a reserved ticket, sells limited-edition collectibles and merchandise as well as plenty of candy. A My Hershey’s Bar station lets visitors create a personalized milk chocolate bar wrapper with their photo.

Hershey Super Sweet Adventure originally appeared in Chicago, Illinois, in fall 2024 before making its East Coast debut at Tysons Corner Center.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the D.C. area for welcoming Hershey Super Sweet Adventure this summer,” Original X Productions Vice President of Marketing and Revenue Adam Sciorsci said in a press release. “With just a few weeks/a few days remaining, we hope families will take the opportunity to experience the interactive fun, create lasting memories together and enjoy a little more sweetness before we close on Labor Day.”

Tickets for the workshop experience can still be purchased online, with prices starting at $19.99. A calendar indicates that this Thursday (Aug. 27) and next Monday (Aug. 31) are sold out, but openings otherwise remain available on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays through Sept. 7.

In addition, the pop-up has been promoting an “end of summer” sale, offering 50% discounts on “almost everything” in its retail store.

Though it’s not clear yet what will move into Hershey Super Sweet Adventure’s first-floor space once it closes, families will still have plenty to do at Tysons Corner Center. The children’s store CAMP will unveil a Bluey-themed interactive experience on Sept. 4, and the slime playground Sloomoo Institute is scheduled to open on Sept. 19.
