A cookie shop in Tysons Corner Center has shut down after just about a year in business.
Chip City Cookies‘ outpost on the mall’s second floor next to Auntie Anne’s is no longer open. The other two Virginia locations — in Arlington’s Clarendon and Shirlington neighborhoods — have also closed. All three locations are no longer listed on Chip City’s website.
Chip City also appears to have closed all locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The company’s website currently lists a total of 24 locations in New Jersey, New York and Texas.
Chip City had opened in Tysons Corner Center in late August 2025, replacing the short-lived Z Ice Cream and Pastries. The cookie shop was known for its gooey, 5.5-ounce cookies and rotating menu of flavors, which ranged from chocolate chip and triple chocolate to cannoli and horchata.
Started by friends Peter Phillips and Teddy Gailas in New York City, it had been expanding in recent years and first reached Virginia in 2024. At a peak, the brand had more than 45 locations.
Another cookie shop, the Northern Virginia-based MidnighTreats, offered to honor Chip City gift cards and coupons by Oct. 14 at the MidnighTreats location in Arlington (4238 Wilson Blvd Level C). The business encouraged former Chip City employees to apply for open positions at MidnighTreats.
