Tysons BBQ restaurant Jack’s Ranch closes again, maybe for good this time

Perhaps Jack’s Ranch just wasn’t meant to be.

After months of delays and interruptions due to the pandemic, the barbecue and Italian restaurant finally opened at the Lumen Apartments in Tysons with its full menu in place on May 20.

Just over two months later, however, Jack’s Ranch has shut down again — and this time, it could be permanent.

In a message posted to the front door and website, owner Steve Roberts announced that the restaurant had closed on Sunday (July 31) after the prolonged construction process ate up too much of the business’ finances for operations to continue:

To All Our Valued Guests and Friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of Jack’s Ranch at 1755 Tysons Central Street in Tysons VA, on July 31st 2022. The extended construction delays simply exhausted the financial reserves necessary to sustain our operations. Although the landlord was extremely supportive and helpful throughout all of the challenges, we simply did not have enough runway ahead of us to continue operating at our full potential.

We want to thank all of our wonderful guests, employees, and local businesses for supporting us. We brought Central Texas style barbecue to Tysons and had welcomed thousands of happy guests this year. We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant and supported us on a regular basis. We made many wonderful and dear friends along the way.

Thank you all,

Steve

More than one commenter on the Facebook announcement called the barbecue at Jack’s Ranch the best they’ve ever had.

Part of the team behind Texas Jack’s Barbecue in Arlington, Roberts announced that he was developing a new concept in a 9,200-square-foot space at the Lumen (1755 Tysons Central Street) in March 2020 — just two days before COVID-19 sent Virginia into a state of emergency.

Originally expected that fall, Jack’s Ranch didn’t actually arrive until Nov. 8, 2021. That opening proved short-lived, as the surging omicron variant and delays in getting permits for the smokers convinced the management team to pause operations in December.

While the latest closure announcements have a tone of finality, manager Stefanie describes the status of Jack’s Ranch as “in limbo” due to the lack of financing.

“When Covid happened, it just drained a lot of the funds,” she told FFXnow.

With some financial backing, though, Jack’s Ranch could theoretically ride again.

“Right now, we’re looking for investors,” Stefanie said. “If we can find someone who would like to continue with this, we would love to partner with them and open back up.”

It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both!
