A Herndon sushi restaurant has closed after a little over a year in business.
Mari Sushi Bar & Lounge, which opened in early 2023, shuttered late last month, according to its website.
A statement on the website reads:
Thank you for your incredible support and affection for Mari.
We are saddened to announce that as of July 28, 2024, our restaurant will be closing its doors for the final time. We are deeply grateful for the cherished moments and the joy you’ve brought into our establishment. Your patronage has been a vital part of our journey, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Wishing you all the best in the future and hoping our paths may cross again.
Mari offered more than 50 different sushi options, as well as noodle dishes and entrees like chicken teriyaki, beef bulgogi and more.
Located at 2533 John Milton Drive in the Fox Mill Shopping Center, the restaurant joins a list of eateries to shutter at that location over the years. Before Mari opened, the space was occupied by the Vietnamese restaurant Saigon 54, and Hunan East operated at the location until it closed in February 2022.
The 3,000-square-foot space is now listed as available by property owner Regency Centers. The only other vacancy is a 2,500-square-foot suite adjacent to a Virginia ABC store.
Remaining dining options in the Giant-anchored shopping center include Subway, Papa John’s Pizza, Glory Days Grill, Laong Thai, KSB Cafe and Lucia’s Italian Restaurant.
