Te’Amo Boba Bar is now serving tea, along with other sweet treats, at the Mosaic District in Merrifield.

The boba tea cafe chain had a soft opening at 8190 Strawberry Lane, Suite 5, on Monday (Aug. 19), making the Merrifield location its first outside of the Chicago, Illinois, area where it originated in 2018.

“We’re thrilled to welcome you to our newest location,” the business said in an Instagram post. “Come by and enjoy all your favorite boba drinks and desserts!”

A grand opening will be held this Saturday (Aug. 24), starting around 11 a.m. In addition to a ribbon-cutting, the celebration will feature lion dancing and promotions, including a giveaway of 100 100 Te’Amo-branded heart keychains and $2 discounts on large coconut panna cottas.

Located next to Pastry Xpo, Te’Amo serves a variety of teas, including milk lattes and loose-leaf, as well as sparkling lemonade, dalonga coffee with boba, and smoothies.

Desserts include mochi donuts, mille crepe cakes, coconut jellies, strawberry and chocolate shortcake cups, and cheesecake baos ranging in flavor from cookies and cream to everything bagel and pizza.

Owner and founder Mia Wan previously told FFXnow that the design and menu of each location can be tweaked to suit the tastes of its customer base, promising that the business has “a lot of unique stuff we will bring to this location.”

Te’Amo first opened at the University of Chicago in 2018 before expanding in the Chicago area, where it now has 13 locations, including a flagship in Chinatown. The company has two more Illinois cafes in the works, along with its first locations in Ohio and Georgia, according to its website.

The Mosaic District cafe is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
