A driver was critically injured in a crash this morning (Friday) that has completely shut down Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) near Colvin Run Mill Park.
Fairfax County police officers and Fire and Rescue responders were dispatched to eastbound Leesburg Pike at Serenity Woods Lane in Great Falls around 9:20 a.m. for a two-vehicle crash, according to scanner traffic.
One of the drivers has been transported to Reston Hospital with injuries considered life-threatening, per the scanner.
As of 10:30 a.m., Route 7 is closed to traffic in both directions for an indeterminate amount of time. On the scanner, a police officer reported at 9:37 a.m. that there was “extensive debris” all over the road, prompting a request for additional assistance to block traffic.
“Please seek an alternate route,” the Fairfax County Police Department said.
The department announced at 1:42 p.m. that all lanes on Route 7 have reopened.
