Langley grad nearly achieves second 4,000-yard milestone in college

During his high-school football career for the Langley Saxons, Tre Vasiliadis gained more than 4,000 all-purpose yards over four years.

In college, Vasiliadis came oh so close to  that 4,000-yard all-purpose milestone, as well.

He fell just short — 3,996 yards — playing for the Division III Carnegie Mellon University Tartans over five seasons and in 44 games.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Vasiliadis rushed for 3,700 and 31 touchdowns on 754 carries. He caught 44 passes for 223 yards and had 73 yards in returns.

This past season, Vasiliadis led the Tartans with 1,050 yards rushing and he scored four touchdowns. He had 14 catches for 71 yards and two TDs.

The graduate student helped the Tartans finish 10-2 and earn a Division III NCAA tournament berth (finishing 1-1), and he was chosen second-team all-conference.

Vasiliadis’ best rushing season was in 2021 when he gained 1,120 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. His 2022 season was limited to only eight games because of an injury, likely keeping him from reaching that 4,000 all-purpose milestone.

In a 2021 contest against Geneva College, Vasiliadis rushed for a career-high 268 yards, the second most in a single game in program history.

Overall, Vasiliadis was a three-time all-conference selection, including second team this past season.

At Langley, Vasiliadis rushed for 2,097 yards in his senior season, and gained 4,156 yards on the ground in his career. He had more than 4,500 all-purpose yards for the Saxons. He is Langley’s second all-time leading career rusher behind Tyler West.

Vasiliadis also played basketball at Langley.
