Harry & David is now selling its signature gift baskets at Tysons Corner Center.
The mail-order business launched a holiday pop-up store in the mall last month that will continue operating through the end of 2025, according to store manager Bruce Hughart.
“Tysons was a great location for us because of the traffic that comes to this mall and the shoppers,” Hughart told FFXnow. “We really felt that they would have a good experience with the [Harry & David] brand.”
As previously reported, Harry & David is located on the mall’s second floor next to Yeti, filling a space vacated by Peloton. After closing its showroom at the end of September, the exercise company can now be found at a freestanding kiosk at the entrance to PenFed Plaza.
Hughart says Tysons Corner Center is one of “a few” locations where Harry & David decided to open holiday pop-up shops this year. The other sites are in California, New Jersey and New York.
Founded in 1934, Harry & David sells a variety of food gift baskets and boxes, which can come with fruit, wine, meat and cheese, chocolates and other snacks.
At the Tysons location, customers can purchase pre-assembled baskets as well as individual products, including the company’s branded chocolate, crackers, relishes, Moose Munch popcorn and more. Some items are available at a discount, and according to Harry & David’s website, visitors can sample treats before they decide to buy them.
“We’re really happy with the response we’ve had,” Hughart said when asked about the initial reaction to the store from shoppers. “A lot of customers come in and tell us stories about how they remember Harry & David stores growing up, and they’re really happy to have this in the mall here.”
Harry & David’s pop-up shop isn’t the only sign of the mood at Tysons Corner Center shifting from spooky season to Christmas. The mall has a number of holiday festivities planned for this month, starting with Santa’s arrival this Friday (Nov. 7) and continuing with the annual kick-off celebration and tree lighting on Nov. 14.
