An instructional assistant at Annandale High School is facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting a student earlier this month.
A school resource officer was notified on Dec. 19 that Jaime Gerardo Gallo Pacheco, a 33-year-old Annandale resident, had reportedly physically assaulted a student earlier that day, the Fairfax County Police Department says.
After an investigation, detectives obtained a warrant charging Pacheco with simple assault, a misdemeanor in Virginia punishable with up to a year in jail and a fine of $2,500, according to the FCPD.
Pacheco was arrested on Dec. 23 and released with a summons. He was placed on administrative leave by Fairfax County Public Schools “upon notice of the allegation,” police say.
“Victim specialists from our Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure that the victim is receiving appropriate resources and assistance,” the FCPD said.
The department said that anyone with information about the alleged assault or other potentially related incidents can contact its Major Crimes Bureau detectives at 703-246-7800, option 4.
