Four pedestrians have been killed in crashes on Fairfax County roads within the past two days, bringing the total death toll for 2026 up to 10.

Earlier this morning (Friday), the Fairfax County Police Department responded to Little River Turnpike at Southland Avenue in Lincolnia after an adult man was struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene. Officers found the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash and have charged them with driving under the influence, the FCPD said on social media at 5:21 a.m.

Eastbound Little River Turnpike was closed at the intersection as police investigated.

The crash in Lincolnia followed two separate fatal pedestrian crashes that occurred last night — one on Gallows Road at Strawberry Lane near the Mosaic District in Merrifield and another on a Leesburg Pike (Route 7) service road near Munson Hill Road in Seven Corners.

In the Seven Corners crash, two pedestrians were struck by a driver who remained at the scene. One of the pedestrians was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, while the other managed to escape without injuries despite being hit, according to the FCPD.

The Merrifield crash also involved an adult male pedestrian who was died after being transported to a hospital, police said at 9:55 p.m. yesterday (Thursday).

“The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene,” the FCPD said.

The FCPD is also still investigating yesterday morning’s Richmond Highway crash that killed 64-year-old Alexandria resident Jerry Harris of Alexandria. A preliminary investigation found that, around 1:43 a.m., Harris was struck first by the driver of a 2019 Nissan Rogue and then by a 2018 Toyota Rav4 driver at the Fort Hunt Road intersection in Huntington.

The FCPD didn’t immediately comment on the sudden spike in pedestrian fatalities, but a spokesperson told FFXnow that there will be “more information to come.” A press conference has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today.

The 10 pedestrian deaths that have been reported so far this year matches the total for all of 2023, according to preliminary state data. There were 18 pedestrians killed in Fairfax County in 2024, six of them in September, and 14 in 2025.
