A circus will bring its cast of aerialists, acrobats, jugglers, and dancers — and a custom-designed stage filled with 35,000 gallons of water — to Fair Oaks Mall for the first time later this week.
Cirque Italia’s tour “Water Circus Atlantis” will begin performing at the mall on Friday (July 17) at 7:30 p.m. and continuing throughout the weekend.
Additional showtimes are scheduled for Saturday at 1:30, 4:30, and 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., and Monday at 7:30 p.m.
“At Cirque Italia we bring the world to your city with our international cast of acclaimed artists,” the circus said in a press release. “Hailing from such far off ports as Argentina, Brazil, and Romania our colorful crew will make you gasp with delight at dexterous juggling and mind bending contortion, roar with laughter at hilarious antics, and scream with excitement for our brave performers on the whirling wheel of death.”
The circus, which was founded in 2012, says it does not use animals in its performances. Tickets currently range from $15 to $65, though prices may change based on availability. One child can be admitted free with a paying adult using the promo code FREE.
Following the Fairfax performances, Water Circus Atlantis will continue on to Frederick, Maryland, and Exton, Pennsylvania.
Cirque Italia is not the only circus that will visit Fairfax County this summer: Omnium Circus has two sold-out shows this week at the Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods at Wolf Trap, and Circus Vazquez, which was founded in Mexico City in 1969, will be in Tysons for performances throughout August.
