An immersive experience for toddler to elementary school age fans of the hit Disney show “Bluey” is one of several new attractions for families opening at Tysons Corner Center starting in September.
The children’s play store CAMP will open its latest themed experience, “Bluey x Camp: Bluey’s House” for kids ages 2 to 10 on Friday, Sept. 4, with a grand opening party to follow the next day. The 50-minute-long experience features a 5,000 square foot recreation of the cartoon dog’s home, where kids can play games from the show, such as “Keepy Uppy” or “Grannies.”
The show is designed to be “pretty chill—just like an episode of Bluey,” according to the event description, but it will have a “dance mode” with pop-up dance parties, as well as slides and a meet-and-greet with sisters Bingo and Bluey.
“At Tysons Corner Center, we’re always looking for ways to create experiences that go beyond traditional shopping,” Roxanne Ribakoff, Tysons Corner Center general manager, told FFXnow in an email. “Interactive attractions like Bluey give families another reason to spend the day together, discover something new, and enjoy everything the center has to offer, from retail and dining to entertainment.”
CAMP opened its first themed experience, inspired by the Disney movie “Encanto,” at Tysons in December 2023. After that closed, it opened a new experience last summer around the TV show “Peppa Pig.”
Other family attractions are slated to open this fall at Tysons as well.
A new play space for kids designed to simultaneously provide a relaxing space for parents, Tiny’s Corner Play Cafe, will open on the second floor. Inside the 3,000-square-foot space, children can participate in open-ended or structured activities, such as arts and crafts or sensory play.
Since FFXnow first reported on the new space in May, the play cafe has added another feature to its services, owner and co-founder Stella Borou told FFXnow.
“We’re planning to offer supervised drop-off alongside guided play sessions led by our staff, giving parents the flexibility to shop, run errands, or dine at Tysons while their children enjoy a fun, structured, and supervised environment,” said Borou.
Tiny’s Corner Play Cafe has not determined an opening date but is aiming for the fall.
For a slightly older crowd, Sloomoo Institute, a slime experience, is opening on September 19th, with a grand opening party planned the same day.
The 17,000-square-foot “tactile playground” will offer kids a chance to walk on “Lake Sloomoo,” a basin filled with over 300 gallons of cloud slime, or design their own custom slime. They can also check out a DC-inspired sculpture on-site.
New ‘loyalty program’ rewards local schools
Tysons Corner Center also announced today (Aug. 7) that it would create a new program in which customers’ purchases could help support up to 10 local schools with a shared $15,000 prize pool.
For each purchase made at Tysons, shoppers who upload their receipts to a new “School Cents” app earn at least five points per dollar spent for their designated school. Bonus points are available throughout the year, and prizes range from $500 to $4,000 per school.
Schools interested in participating in the program can apply online.
