Canadian plane tech manufacturer to open Reston research facility

A Canadian company that makes electronic systems for airplanes is swooping into Reston.

CMC Electronics will invest $5 million to establish an office and research and development facility in Reston, bringing 89 new jobs with plans for more positions as it builds up its operations in the area, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced on Friday (Nov. 1).

Apple store to close at Fair Oaks Mall ahead of relocation

Apple’s days at Fair Oaks Mall are running low.

The tech giant will have its last day of business at the shopping mall (11750 Fair Oaks Mall) this Thursday (Nov. 7), an employee confirmed to FFXnow. The closure will precede a relocation to the nearby, outdoor shopping center Fairfax Corner, where the store will open Saturday (Nov. 9).

A new dining option is arriving in McLean, just in time to fortify local voters looking for some grub after they stop by the polls today.

Timber Pizza will serve its first official customers this afternoon (Tuesday), holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. and opening its doors at the McLean Village shopping center (8100 Old Dominion Drive) at 5 p.m.

JUST IN: Man charged with soliciting sex from teen at Spring Hill Metro station

A Maryland man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly soliciting sex from a 15-year-old he met at the Spring Hill Metro station in Tysons.

The teen’s parents reported to the police on Friday (Nov. 1) that a man had solicited their child first in person and then in subsequent communications in October, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Motorcyclist dies after crash on Old Keene Mill Road, the road’s third fatality of 2024

A motorcyclist died last week following a crash on Old Keene Mill Road in Burke.

Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the Field Master Drive intersection around 3:53 p.m. on Oct. 30, the Fairfax County Police Department reported today (Monday) in a press release.

Construction underway on mystery tenant at Fair City Mall

A retailer is finally moving into the former Hobby Works in Fairfax City, but the shopping center is staying tight-lipped for now about who the newcomer will be.

Work has begun on a buildout of the 2,450-square-foot space at Fair City Mall (9650 Main Street). The sidewalk and drive aisle in front of the storefront have been blocked off by a fence around the construction area.

Police search for suspect in series of Reston townhome burglaries

Fairfax County police are turning to the public for help identifying a man who allegedly tried to burglarize several homes in Reston’s Edgewater neighborhood.

Police determined that the incidents were connected after responding to a report of a burglary at a townhome in the 12000 block of Edgemere Circle on Oct. 2, at 6:50 p.m., the Fairfax County Police Department says.

The developer behind Somos at McLean Metro is ready to begin construction on the affordable housing project’s second phase.

SCG Development announced yesterday (Thursday) that it has officially closed on the financing for the 225-unit apartment building, which will be constructed on top of an existing three-level parking garage at 1750 Old Meadow Road in Tysons.

A beauty supply donation drive organized by the Fairfax County Police Department to support individuals who have experienced domestic violence is coming to a close.

Set to end after today (Thursday), the campaign got a boost earlier this week from the Great Clips hair salons in Reston and Fairfax City, which contributed “several hundred dollars” worth of beauty supplies, according to a press release.

Two people have been taken to a hospital following a crash involving three vehicles on Fairfax County Parkway in Burke.

The parkway’s southbound lanes are closed at Lee Chapel Road, while the northbound lanes are closed at Huntsman Blvd in the wake of the crash, the Fairfax County Police Department announced at 9:16 a.m.
