D.C. Restaurant Week returns with almost 30 Fairfax County eateries participating

The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington’s Summer Restaurant Week is back for 2026, and over two dozen establishments in Fairfax County are in the mix.

Starting today (Monday) through Sunday, Aug. 30, more than 380 restaurants in D.C., Maryland and Virginia are offering multi-course brunch, lunch and dinner menus that range in price from $25 to $65 per person, depending on the location.

Reston contractor leases expanded HQ ahead of merger with Tysons startup

An information technology contractor based in Reston has secured a new, larger headquarters office, even as its parent company works to finalize a recently announced merger with an IT startup in Tysons.

MetroStar Systems signed a lease last week for 37,844-square-feet of office space in the nine-story building at 12010 Sunset Hills Road in Reston Town Center.

Fairfax County revives free tree giveaways for residents

After an initial round this spring, Fairfax County is bringing back its initiative that offers free trees for residents to plant on their properties.

Partnering again with the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation, the county’s Urban and Community Forestry Division will limit giveaways for the first two weeks, starting today (Monday), to people living in neighborhoods that rank “high” or “very high” on the federal Social Vulnerability Index.

Fairfax County Public Schools students are heading back to the classroom today (Monday), a familiar sight that might inspire nostalgia and stress among even non-parent residents.

Clyde’s new Reston restaurant, Ebbitt House, on track for October opening

When Ebbitt House opens at Reston Station this fall, the food and ambiance might stir up memories for former Clyde’s of Reston regulars.

The new restaurant from Clyde’s Restaurant Group is on track to open in the growing Reston Row neighborhood this October, developer Comstock Companies announced earlier this month in an earnings report.

Wyclef Jean coming to Tysons this fall for Fairfax Symphony concert

Hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean and the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (FSO) will form an unexpected alliance at Capital One Hall this fall.

The Fairfax Symphony announced this week that it will be joined in the main theater at the Tysons venue (7750 Capital One Tower Road) by Jean on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.

Medical spa, clothing boutique book still-vacant Vienna Market commercial space

Four years after construction finished on the Vienna Market townhouses, the commercial space intended to support the new homes and draw visitors to a central stretch of Maple Avenue remains empty.

That could soon change after the owner of a new medical spa bought approximately 5,500 square feet of commercial space — more than half of the development’s available 8,200 square feet — for $2.55 million earlier this month.

As preparations continue on a taproom expansion, Lake Anne Brew House will build anticipation for the new space with the launch of a vintage furniture pop-up.

The resale shop Vintage Reston will initially open at 11426 Washington Plaza West, next door to the brewery, at Lake Anne Plaza this Saturday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 23 from 2-6 p.m.

Highline at Greensboro offices in Tysons to remain after $77M sale

A pair of high-rise office buildings near the Spring Hill Metro station in Tysons has changed hands with pending redevelopment plans unrealized.

The Highline at Greensboro District offices at 8401 and 8405 Greensboro Drive were acquired Tuesday (Aug. 18) for $77.5 million by Finmarc Management, a Bethesda-based commercial real estate firm that specializes in picking up and revitalizing properties it views as under performing their potential.

NEW: Teen charged with murder for fatal stabbing of coworker in Great Falls

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Reston woman at Difficult Run Park in Great Falls on Monday (Aug. 17), the Fairfax County Police Department announced today (Wednesday).

Maryland resident Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos was taken into custody this morning in Lanham after detectives determined he had “repeatedly” stabbed 42-year-old Carmen Lizet Puch in her car and doused her in gasoline, intending to set her on fire, police officials said at a press conference.
