The Great Falls Grange — an assembly hall built in the 1929 as a result of the Grange Movement — is paving the way for a new future.

Through a public-private partnership agreement with the Fairfax County Park Authority, the Great Falls Grange Foundation will operate and maintain the historic property, which will serve as a community meeting place, a hub for classes and activities and a venue for public and private events.

The Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art — formerly known as the Greater Reston Arts Center — has announced its plans for the upcoming Tephra ICA Festival in May.

Known before as the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival, the annual event, now in its 31st year, will bring the work of more than 200 artists to Reston Town Center.

The fast food restaurant hopes to move from its small drive-thru-less location at 5633 Stone Road to a bigger space within the shopping center at 5601 Stone Road.

Popeyes is hoping to rekindle a different kind of warmth into a Fairfax site that was destroyed by a fire in 2018.

The fried chicken spot has filed plans with the county to bring a 2,265-square-foot location to Fair Lakes Shopping Center. If approved, the restaurant would occupy space that was home to United Bank.

Inova Health Care Services is moving forward with the demolition of the former Cameron Glen Care Center, a 150-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility that shuttered in 2014.

The demolition — which is slated to happen as soon as possible — would pave the way for the site’s incorporation into Reston Town Center North, a 47-acre area in the heart of Reston’s urban core slated for redevelopment.

After hundreds of logged meeting hours, a community-led task force studying the Reston Comprehensive Plan is kicking off community outreach on its interim recommendations, completing a comprehensive overhaul to usher the plan into the future.

The effort, kicked off by Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn, has culminated in draft recommendations on the 14 areas of the plan, which is undergoing review by the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Development. The move expands Reston’s original planning principles created by founder Bob Simon.

Shake Shack, a burger-and-shake restaurant, plans to open in Merrifield’s Mosaic District this spring.

A company representative tells FFXnow that while an opening date has not been determined, the burger joint expects to announce its grand opening in the coming weeks.
