School is out for the summer, but young kids won’t have much opportunity to get bored — at least as far as Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is concerned.

The park will launch a complete slate of family-friendly entertainment next week for the first full Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods season of the pandemic. The 2020 season was canceled, along with the rest of Wolf Trap’s summer programming that year, and last year’s lineup was limited to just six performances.


(Updated at 1:45 p.m. on 6/14/22) A new lounge and bar is filling out ground-floor space at a residential neighborhood on Reston Station Boulevard.

Eve’s Garden plans to open soon at Faraday Park, a redevelopment of a 7-acre site into two apartment buildings and townhouses. The restaurant will be located at 11207 Reston Station Boulevard, according to county permits. (An earlier version of this article had the wrong address number.)


Tysons’ newest eatery won’t be found in the usual malls and mixed-use developments. Instead, it has set up base in a cluster of corporate office buildings where Jones Branch Drive curves parallel to the Dulles Toll Road.

Springfield will get a bit sweeter this summer with the likely arrival of Duck Donuts.

The fast-growing donut chain is opening its first Springfield location at Old Keene Mill Shopping Center (8424 Old Keene Mill Road). It’s moving in next to Mezeh Mediterranean Grill and into the former home of Exquisite Jewelers.


Reston Kabob is getting a chance to uplift its immigrant-owned business through an accelerator program operated by DoorDash.

The Reston-based eatery is part of the first cohort for DoorDash’s Accelerator for Local Goods, an education program designed to support consumer-packed goods that are owned by entrepreneurs who are female, transgender, immigrants or people of color.


Two injured fledglings from a peregrine falcon nest in Reston are expected to make their way back to their home soon after taking a tumble during last week’s storms.

A smaller male was blown of his nest at the top of a building during storms two Fridays ago and the larger female hit a window, fracturing her coracoid bone.

The Arlington-based business plans to open up shop at Old Keene Mill Shopping Center, at 8434 Old Keene Mill Road, according to county permits.
