The Town of Vienna is hoping to buck its deer population with new measures outlawing feeding deer and other wild animals.
A new ordinance in Vienna would make it illegal for anyone to “place, distribute or allow the placement of food, salt, minerals or similar substances to feed or attract deer at any time.”
Fairfax County supervisors on Tuesday (April 22) took the first step in what could result in a local-government takeover of trash-collection services across single-family neighborhoods in the county.
Supervisors voted 9-1 to advertise, for a June 24 public hearing, a plan that would start the clock running on a five-year waiting period before the county government could create a unified, countywide trash-collection district.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced today that it’s kicking off widening work on two miles of Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286) near Fairfax Station starting this weekend.
The widening will run from Route 123 (Ox Road) to Nomes Court/Ladues End Lane. The goal is reduced congestion along with the installation of a shared-use path and a grade-separated cyclist/pedestrian crossing, along with other improvements.

A woman and her husband were killed in a crash near Lake Barcroft last night.
The Fairfax County Police Department said it was a single-vehicle crash. According to scanner traffic, the vehicle crashed into a house and caught on fire.
