They’re all examples of modernism, an architectural style that exploded onto the scene in Fairfax County after World War II, according to a new survey that could help preserve some key remnants of the movement.

Fairfax County residents who live on streets that limit cut-through traffic can now get exempted from those restrictions.

The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday (Feb. 18) to begin accepting petitions in July from neighborhoods that want to provide the carve-out for residents while retaining restrictions on other drivers.

Fairfax County is considering adding a dedicated pickleball court at Mason District Park in Annandale and is asking residents for feedback before making a decision.

The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) has opened a 30-day public comment period on the proposal, which would place the new court next to the existing tennis courts in the southwestern corner of the park.

The county received about 50 nominations during its Site-Specific Plan Amendment (SSPA) process, which lets members of the public propose changes to the comprehensive plan that guides future land use and development. The submission period lasted from Jan. 13 through last Thursday, Feb. 13.

A man has been charged with an alleged armed carjacking in Annandale yesterday (Wednesday) that led to an arrest in Tysons.

Fairfax County police officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Columbia Pike around 7:32 p.m. after a caller reported being carjacked “at gunpoint,” according to scanner traffic.

Less than two years after a fire destroyed Bonchon’s lone presence in Annandale, the popular restaurant chain is back in the neighborhood.

Franchise owner Song Kyong opened Annandale’s newest outpost for Korean fried chicken last Friday (Jan. 31) at 7133B Columbia Pike — a stone’s throw from the previous location that was destroyed by the March 2023 blaze.
