Reston Association is kicking off a project to make the Hook Road Recreation Area more safe and accessible for local Little League players.

The park, first created in 1965, is a group of baseball fields, tennis courts and other athletic fields ringed by Hook Road and Fairway Drive in Reston.

Two Fairfax County natives are a step closer to achieving their professional baseball dreams after being chosen in the 2025 MLB draft.

James Quinn-Irons, a Reston resident who currently attends and plays for George Mason University, was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the draft’s fifth round on Monday (July 14). He was the 147th overall pick.

McLean Little League will kick off the competition for its 70th anniversary season on Saturday, April 5 with the traditional 9 a.m. parade from McLean High School to the league’s three-field complex on Westmoreland Street.

“We are expecting an exciting day of events, starting with the parade,” league official Autumn Price told FFXnow. “It will be a fun morning and day.”


Sports

Two have moved on to college sports, while one remains at Oakton High School, but all three Toole-family siblings are plenty busy and productive in athletics.

Girls basketball and softball player Sophie Toole is a junior standout in both sports at Oakton, currently helping the hoop team to a 15-1 record this winter season. She leads the team in many statistical categories.
