A woman was hospitalized after her car was hit by components of a tractor-trailer on I-66 in the Fair Lakes area.
The woman was driving onto I-66 East from Stringfellow Road around 1:34 p.m. on Friday (July 1) when her black 2015 Nissan Murano “was struck by a wheel hub and tire assembly lost from a tractor-trailer traveling west on I-66,” the Virginia State Police said on Saturday (July 2).
“The tractor-trailer continued west on I-66 and, despite a search of the area, was not located,” police said.
The woman suffered injuries considered life-threatening and was transported to Inova’s emergency room in Reston, where she’s still being treated, VSP spokesperson Corinne Geller told FFXnow yesterday (Tuesday).
Police are currently on the lookout for the tractor-trailer involved in the crash. While the available information on the vehicle is limited to the fact that it’s missing a wheel hub and tire assembly, the VSP says anyone who has information or may have witnessed the crash can call #77 or 703-803-0026, or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo is inching closer to opening its second location in Fairfax County.
Uniqlo plans to open this fall at Kirkland’s former location, which was 13041 Fair Lakes Shopping Center, according to representatives for Peterson Cos., which owns the center. The business already has a locations in Tysons Corner Center.
Uniqlo did not return multiple requests for comment from FFXnow over the last several weeks.
The business was founded in Yamaguchi, Japan first as a textiles factory in 1949. The first store opened in 1984 with a unique element: the manufacturer retail model controlled the entire process from product planning to marketing. Since then, the company has cemented a global presence.

Two women and a man found dead with gunshots wounds in Fair Lakes on Tuesday (June 7) may have made a suicide pact, Fairfax County Police Department said.
Police said they believe the man shot Angelica McIntosh, 26, and Anne Lollar, 31, before shooting himself in their apartment in the 4200 block of Mazarin Place. Police believe the man is Jose Gale Aliaga, 26, though they are still working to confirm that identification.
Officers are investigating it as a double murder-suicide, the FCPD said. The women’s deaths mark the ninth and 10th homicides of the year in the county, matching the number seen by this time in 2021.
After a family member requested a welfare check, officers discovered three people around 11 a.m. with gunshot wounds to the upper body, police said. They were barricaded in a back bedroom but could be seen through a window from the apartment balcony.
Another roommate who was inside was unaware of any foul play and allowed officers to gain access to the apartment, police said. The FCPD is considering the roommate as a person of interest.
There was evidence to indicate McIntosh, Lollar and the man made a suicide pact, police said.

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware is opening a new location in Fairfax County.
The hardware and woodworking shop plans to open up at 12975 Fair Lakes Shopping Center. It will be the business’ first location in Virginia.
A company representative tells FFXnow that the shop is expected to open this summer.
“Unfortunately, we do not have an exact date but the location is expected to open around late June,” the representative wrote in a statement.
Rockler takes the place of Golf Galaxy, a shop for golf clubs, apparel and equipment. The sporting goods shop is permanently closed.
The business originated in 1985 when Norton Rockler started the Minnesota Woodworkers Supply Company in Minneapolis. It now has stores and independent resellers across the country.
The store also offers free demonstrations on Saturdays and in-store classes.
