A driver hospitalized by a three-vehicle crash in McLean last Wednesday (March 9) has died, the Fairfax County Police Department confirmed today (Monday).

Karla Boggess, a 62-year-old resident of Berryville, is the first person killed in a vehicle crash in the county this year who wasn’t a pedestrian, according to police. At this time in 2021, there had been one non-pedestrian fatality.

Woman Dies in Crash on I-495 — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash on I-495 near the Eisenhower Avenue Connector in the Rose Hill area. The crash occurred at 9:27 p.m. on Saturday (March 5) when a sedan hit a disabled vehicle, causing it to catch fire. The driver of the disabled vehicle died at the scene, while the sedan driver suffered minor injuries and was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence. A woman injured in a vehicle crash in Reston earlier this month has died, Fairfax County police announced today (Tuesday).

The crash occurred on Baron Cameron Avenue near the North Village Road intersection around 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 3, shutting down the avenue’s eastbound lanes.

Traffic safety advocates from across the D.C. area have banded together to urge local officials to make improvements that they believe could help prevent the next death of a pedestrian or cyclist.

The campaign specifically focuses on the Route 7 corridor around Baileys Crossroads and Seven Corners after 68-year-old Nguyet Ly was hit and killed when walking along a section of Leesburg Pike without a sidewalk on Dec. 13.

A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with an SUV around 7 p.m. Friday on Ox Road at Henderson Road, near Burke Lake Park.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, says Sgt. Tara Gerhard, Fairfax County police spokeswoman. She said the southbound lanes of Ox Road are closed at Wayfarer Drive and eastbound Henderson Road is closed at Thistledown Trail while police are investigating the crash.
