Chase Bank is seeking Fairfax County’s permission to add a drive-through ATM to its Herndon location.

The company has submitted a special exception proposal requesting the ability to operate the ATM and a deposit box at Village Center Shopping Center (2401 Centreville Road).

Frying Pan Farm Park in Herndon will be the site of a spring celebration to celebrate the arrival of cherry blossoms on Saturday, April 6.

The Reston-based German Armed Forces Command partnered with Food for Neighbors to help tackle food insecurity among teenagers on Saturday (March 9).

The office, which serves as the German military’s liaison to the U.S. and Canada on issues related to defense technology and weapons, helped sort nearly 3,400 pounds of donations at Herndon Middle School. It also presented a donation of more than $5,500 to Food for Neighbors.

(Updated at 3:35 p.m.) Congress has passed another short-term budget package, averting a partial shutdown of the federal government just hours before a midnight deadline.

In addition to funding the Justice Department, Housing and Urban Development, and other key agencies, the slate of bills passed 75-22 by the Senate on Friday (March 8) includes $12.7 billion in “pork” — money designated for local projects requested by lawmakers for their constituents.

An Indian restaurant appears to be taking over space in Herndon vacated by Mellow Mushroom last year.

As first reported by The Burn, Maharani Palace — which does not appear to have an online presence yet — expects to open at 1030 Elden Street, according to a sign posted at the door.

The Herndon Community Center is planning a week-long series of events later this month to celebrate its 45th anniversary.

The center, which has been provided health, wellness, and recreational activities for the community since its inception in 1976, is inviting residents to participate in the festivities, starting Monday, March 25 and concluding on March 28.

The Town of Herndon is exploring the adoption of new policy that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.

Moved by council member Pradip Dhakal and created by the Herndon Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, the “One Herndon” policy builds on the One Fairfax policy adopted by Fairfax County in 2016, which commits county and school officials to considering social and racial equity issues when providing services and making policy decisions.

The plan for a major residential neighborhood near the Innovation Center Metro station in the Herndon area is evolving.

But the tweak won’t be approved by the Fairfax County Planning Commission until April 24 at the earliest. With no discussion, the commission voted on Wednesday (Feb. 28) to defer a public hearing on an application to amend the development plan.

A plan to redevelop two vacant office buildings on Worldgate Drive in Herndon is barreling towards official approval.

At a meeting on Monday (Feb. 26), the Herndon Planning Commission unanimously approved the redevelopment plan for 13100 and 13150 Worldgate Drive.

The last of three preliminary rounds is set for March 9. Winners from each preliminary round — including two others that took place on Feb. 10 and this past Saturday (Feb. 24) — will compete in a final round on April 20. A wild card will also be selected.
