Defamation Trial Over Domestic Violence Op-Ed Starts Next Monday — “Johnny Depp, 58, and Amber Heard, 35, who were briefly married from 2015 to 2017, are set to begin their long-anticipated defamation trial with jury selection that day. D.C. Area TV News Anchor Dies — “For decades, Bruce Johnson’s voice could be heard emanating from TV sets around the Washington region, delivering the day’s news with both gravitas and humor. More townhouses planned for Herndon’s Dulles Center

Dulles Center LLC plans to build 55 stacked townhouses at 13490 Coppermine Road.

Access to the development would be provided through an existing access point at Coppermine Road and a right-in and right-out entrance on Centreville Road.

Herndon man charged with fraud and embezzlement in Loudoun

A 38-year-old man from Herndon was charged with larceny and fraud-related charges earlier this month.

Steven Canavan turned himself in to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on March 18 in connection with the 2021 incidents, according to a Wednesday (March 30) crime report.

Health Department Updates Covid Data — The county’s dashboard for COVID-19 data will report the 7-day average number of daily cases instead of the number of new cases, and two other metrics were added to the dashboard. The additions are the 7-day average number of daily new deaths, and the current community level, including the metrics that determine the level (hospitalizations, hospital capacity and cases within a community). FBI Relaunches New HQ Search — “President Joe Biden’s administration made it clear that the federal government would be consolidating the FBI’s headquarters outside of D.C. in the General Services Administration’s fiscal year 2023 budget request…The move has been in limbo for years. During then-President Barack Obama’s administration, the GSA had narrowed down potential locations to Greenbelt, Landover and Springfield.” [Bisnow]

Singer Almira Zaky, a Herndon native, represents Virginia on Eurovision-like NBC show

Almira Zaky has always been, in her own words, a little girl with a big voice.

A native of Herndon who is of Indonesian descent, Zaky has been singing since she was a young girl. She now represents Virginia on “American Song Contest,” NBC’s take on the yearly Eurovision music competition that has been around since 1956.

Herndon church plots relocation to Ashburn as development picks up

A longtime Herndon church is planning a move deep into Ashburn.

Template Baptist Church, located at 1545 Dranesville Church, plans to open a new church campus. The church currently has 19 acres of land at Marley Corner.

Herndon Town Council priorities include bringing DMV services to town

The Herndon Town Council is considering ways to bring Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles services to the town.

At a quarterly strategy meeting on Thursday (March 24), a majority of council members said that Town of Herndon residents need DMV services.

Cigar and vape shop coming soon to the Town of Herndon

Another tenant is adding some diversity to the mix of retail, restaurant, and fitness-related tenants at an office park in the Town of Herndon.

Reston Cigars & Vapes, a cigar and vape shop, plans to open up shop in Sunset Business Park. A banner has been posted at the front of the building where the business will open.

Work on major Van Buren Street and Herndon Parkway project to begin

Travel on Van Buren Street will soon become much smoother for Herndon residents and other commuters.

The Town of Herndon will break ground tomorrow (Friday) on a major project to update the intersection at Van Buren Street and Herndon Parkway.

Upgrades to Herndon’s Elden and Monroe Street near completion

Major updates to the intersection of Elden Street and Monroe Street have neared substantial completion.

At a Herndon Town Council meeting last night (Tuesday), Town Manager Bill Ashton said the project is mostly complete. Signals have been installed and are expected to be fully functional in the coming days.
