County Firefighters Deliver Free Shoes to Kids — “The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department along with Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue on Thursday gave away more than 300 pairs of new shoes to children and families in need. FCPD: Man tried to bribe police after allegedly exposing himself in Tysons

A man is facing charges after he reportedly yelled and exposed himself to customers at a Walmart in Tysons, police say.

According to authorities, the 30-year-old man ran when Fairfax County Police Department officers responded to the department store in Tysons West around 3:15 p.m. on May 5. After his arrest, he allegedly offered authorities money to release him.

The rain now passing through Fairfax County could lead to flash flooding this afternoon and evening (Thursday).

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for much of the D.C. area that’s currently set to be in effect until 8 p.m.

McLean residents turned out in force yesterday (Wednesday) for the grand opening of Fairfax County’s newest Lidl — its first north of I-66.

Starting with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:40 a.m., the 25,000-square-foot grocery store saw a steady stream of customers pack the parking lot at 1330 Chain Bridge Road, drawn by promises of giveaways and special deals.

Vienna police to crack down on stop sign violations

(Updated at 10:45 a.m. on 6/2/2022) Drivers who roll through stop signs aren’t going to be tolerated in the Town of Vienna.

Starting today (Wednesday), the Vienna Police Department has launched a new traffic safety campaign with a particular focus on stop sign violations, citing “a noticeable increase” in people failing to come to a complete halt at intersections.

Police review panel adds process to weed out unfounded complaints

Fairfax County’s Police Civilian Review Panel has implemented a screening process to better assess whether complaints have merit.

The panel, which reviews complaints of misconduct by the Fairfax County Police Department, uses the process to determine if a request should be reviewed by the entire panel, thereby expediting its other cases.

New ‘Lincoln Street’ in Tysons East will include roundabouts, crosswalks

A planned street that will eventually connect Tysons East to Pimmit Hills could bring some major changes to Magarity Road, the border between the two neighborhoods.

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation shared a conceptual design for Lincoln Street last month that proposed adding two mini-roundabouts on Magarity, including one at the Peabody Drive intersection in front of Westgate Elementary School.

NEW: Former FCPD officers reject lawsuit claim they helped sex trafficking ring

The two former Fairfax County Police Department officers accused of protecting a sex trafficking ring have denied the allegations and demanded proof in a lawsuit against them.

Michael O. Barbazette and Jason Mardocco denied any knowledge of or involvement in a sex trafficking ring that the victim who filed the lawsuit says forced her and other women to work as prostitutes.
