Rush-hour traffic slowed to a crawl on the Capital Beltway (I-495) in McLean this morning (Monday), thanks to a truck crash.
All northbound lanes were shut down at Georgetown Pike around 7:30 a.m. due to a tractor-trailer crash, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. A video shared on Twitter showed the vehicle lying on its side across all lanes.
A Virginia State Police spokesperson confirmed that it was a single-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer that blew a tire.
“No injuries reported at this time,” the spokesperson said.

Traffic was redirected onto Georgetown Pike until around 9:30 a.m., when the two left northbound lanes reopened.
“Pls continue to seek alternate routes,” VDOT said in a tweet. “Signal timings on local roads will continue to be monitored and adjusted as needed.”
As of 10:18 a.m., traffic backups extended approximately seven miles, according to VDOT’s traffic information site.
