Marshall outscored by W-L in Liberty District football action

The running game was significant on both sides of the ball for the Marshall Statesmen in Thursday (Oct. 10) football action.

On defense, the Statesmen allowed 303 yards rushing to the host and undefeated Washington-Liberty Generals, while gaining a modest 125 in their 42-13 loss in a Liberty District high-school game.

Other than one completed pass for 30 yards, Marshall generated no other air attack.

The Statesmen fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the district. Washington-Liberty is 7-0 and leads the district at 3-0.

Runningback Ethan Lebkisher was Marshall’s most productive offensive player with 85 yards rushing, including a one-yard scoring run on the game’s final play. Will Jacobi ran for 31 yards, Kevin Aleman for 13.

The completed pass was a halfback option from Aleman to Peyton Lubbe for a 30-yard touchdown late in the first half. Lubbe also had a 72-yard kickoff return and Josh Paine one for 63.

On defense, Oliver Smith had two sacks and Arya Farhad one.
