A host of festivities are scheduled for South Block when it opens next weekend in Fairfax City.
The juice shop chain will throw a celebratory block party for its new store at 9672 Main Street in Fair City Mall on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The first 100 attendees will receive free mini acai bowls and merchandise, and everyone will get a promotional code for a free smoothie, a spokesperson told FFXnow. A DJ will also be performing at the opening event, which is scheduled to last from 11 a.m. to 1. p.m.
The new location will be the fourth in Fairfax County for the Arlington-based chain, which was launched by owner Amir Mostafavi back in 2011. With 19 locations total, South Block can also be found in Vienna, McLean and Chantilly.
It recently launched a concession stand inside Dulles International Airport, and a West Springfield shop is expected to open at the Old Keene Mill Shopping Center later this year.
A Fairfax resident, Mostafavi was drawn to the Fairfax City location due to its proximity. His family lives nearby, with his kids attending Woodson High School directly across the street from the new cafe.
“We are super excited about this location because it will be in our neighborhood!” Mostafavi told FFXnow in July.
South Block offers a variety of acai bowls, smoothies, cold-pressed juices and other items on its menu.
For Fair City Mall, South Block is one of many new tenants, including Dave’s Hot Chicken, which began serving customers next door at 9670 Main Street on Dec. 20. Also coming soon is a J.Crew Factory store and honeygrow, a restaurant chain specializing in salads and stir-frys, at 9600 Main Street.
