Former FCPS after-school worker pleads guilty to minor-involved sex crimes

A former independent contractor who worked in Fairfax County Public Schools admitted to perpetrating multiple sex crimes this week.

Arturo Elmore-Adon, 26, pleaded guilty Tuesday (March 4) to two counts of possessing child pornography, four counts of unlawful videotaping of a minor and one count of sexual battery.

Elmore-Adon was initially charged in August after allegedly touching a child inappropriately at a store in Reston’s South Lakes Village Shopping Center.

Later that month, the Fairfax County Police Department brought an additional 15 charges for possession of child sexual abuse material, apparently stemming from Elmore-Adon’s time working at multiple district schools as an independent contractor for after-school programs.

A search of Elmore-Adon’s cell phone uncovered three different videos, apparently taken at Churchill Road Elementary School in McLean, that depicted students being “surreptitiously filmed,” FCPD Capt. Dan Spital said at a press conference last September.

According to police, Elmore-Adon is accused of filming multiple female students aged 6 to 8 years old from behind while they were bent over. One video appeared to have been taken from an angle to look up one student’s shorts, court documents said.

Investigators also found four other similar videos that appeared to have been taken at Fox Mill Elementary School in Herndon, as well as more than 400 videos and images downloaded from “various international websites,” according to the FCPD.

Elmore-Adon, who worked with FCPS during the 2022-23 school year, was employed as a vendor through Falls Church-based Baroody Camps, which provides after-school programs and summer camps.

Elmore-Adon was ultimately cleared by an FCPS background check that took place in 2022 — before he was placed in schools, FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid said last year.

While Elmore-Adon pleaded guilty to seven charges, there is no agreement yet regarding a sentence, according to a spokesperson from the Fairfax Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.

Elmore-Adon is scheduled to appear in Fairfax County Circuit Court for sentencing on July 25, where he faces a maximum of more than 35 years in prison.
