Potbelly has put the finishing touches on makeovers for its restaurants in Fairfax Corner and Reston.
The national sandwich chain will officially unveil the new looks tomorrow (Friday) with celebrations at both locations, offering a variety of giveaways to customers.
The Fairfax Corner store (4201 Fairfax Corner East Avenue) will give out coupon books for a year of free food to the first 50 customers to line up for its celebration, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Potbelly’s Reston Town Center location (11919 Freedom Drive, Suite A) will host a similar event from 8 a.m. to noon, but instead of free food for a year, it will give “surprise” Golden Ticket envelopes with gift cards ranging in value from $10 to $100 to the first 50 customers.
Both events will also feature Plinko games where visitors can “win exclusive merch and prizes,” the company said in a press release.
Chosen because of their relative age and “longstanding presence,” having opened in October 2003 and June 2008, respectively, the Fairfax Corner and Reston Town Center stores are among the first in the U.S. to get remodeled as part of a “nationwide refresh initiative,” Potbelly Field Marketing Manager Anna Whalen said in a statement.
“We decided to embark on the nationwide refresh initiative to elevate the overall Potbelly fan experience while also strengthening our competitive approach to the restaurant industry by providing more modernized spaces that still reflect the brand’s iconic neighborhood feel. In order to do this, select legacy Potbelly shops will undergo a phased remodel process, which will begin this year and continue through 2029.”
According to Whalen, the remodelings took four to six weeks to complete, with the work occurring at night so the stores didn’t have to close. The changes included new paint, wallpaper, décor, furniture and lighting as well as different interior and exterior signage.
Potbelly didn’t indicate whether any other Fairfax County stores are slated to get the redesign. The chain — which got its start in Chicago in 1977 but didn’t start expanding nationally until 1996 — can also be found in Vienna, Tysons, Fairfax City, Springfield and at RTC West in Reston.
