Fast-casual hibachi chain opens newest location in Idylwood

A regional chain of fast-casual hibachi restaurants has opened its newest location in Fairfax County.

Quickway Japanese Hibachi celebrated its grand opening at 7511-L Leesburg Pike over the weekend (June 28-29), bringing another dining option to Idylwood Plaza.

The brand’s seventh in the county, the new restaurant replaces Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, which departed the storefront last summer.

The opening of Quickway’s Idylwood location comes after pouring approximately $26,000 into renovations, according to Fairfax County’s permitting portal.

Founded in 2012 in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Quickway serves build-your-own hibachi bowls, allowing diners to choose between five different proteins accompanied by mixed vegetables, rice or noodles. The restaurant also offers a variety of bento boxes and sushi options.

The Idylwood Plaza location, which sits between HairSocial and MyEyeDr, is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Idylwood Plaza has added a slew of new eateries this year, with Quickway following in the footsteps of the Japanese noodle shop Kajiken and the daytime cafe chain First Watch. Still to come is the Indian restaurant Mumbai Central is expected to open this summer.

The shopping center has also confirmed that Lidl will take over part of the former Whole Foods store in late 2026. The remaining space will be subdivided into three smaller suites, all of which are listed as “available” on property owner Federal Realty’s website.

Elsewhere in Northern Virginia, Quickway has locations in Burke and Leesburg in the works as part of a planned 15-store expansion this year.

Founder Bob Liang confirmed to FFXnow in January that Quickway will open at Burke Centre Shopping Center sometime in 2025.

“Quickway has multiple stores in Fairfax County, and we are excited to open even more,” Liang said at the time. “It’s been an honor to be part of this community! We’re looking forward to new doors being opened in the Burke Center.”
