French-inspired bakery to anchor new Tysons food hall, coming this summer

Tous les Jours is coming to Tysons with a few other eateries in tow.

The bakery, which started in Korea but serves French-style pastries, will anchor Luna Hall Tysons, a new food hall expected to open on the ground floor of the office building at 8201 Greensboro Drive near Tysons Galleria later this summer.

Taking over a space previously occupied by the Indian restaurant Sapphire Tysons, the food hall will also host new locations for Dumpling District, Takumi Japanese Bistro and Bar and Pelicana Korean Fried Chicken — all concepts conceived or franchised by restauranteur Zong Chen.

“We’re a small team, but we’re trying to do big things,” said Matt Hall, who handles marketing for Chen’s restaurant group.

The Tysons location will be the fourth Tous les Jours franchise operated by Chen’s group, joining a spot in D.C.’s Chinatown and Arlington’s Ballston and Pentagon City neighborhoods. The team has its first two Maryland franchises in the works in Rockville and Laurel, according to Hall.

In Chinatown, Tous les Jours is part of the original Luna Hall that Chen’s group opened in a former Vapiano’s in June 2023. Subsequently expanded to Ellicott City and Wheaton, Maryland, the food hall uses higher-profile chains like Tous les Jours and Kung Fu Tea to draw attention to Chen’s own creations, including Dumpling District and Takumi.

Not to be confused with the Mosaic District’s District Dumplings, Dumpling District specializes in xiao long bao, or soup dumplings, though its menu features a variety of Chinese dim sum, noodle soup and rice dishes. The chain now has nine locations across the D.C. area, but the one in Luna Hall Tysons will be only the second in Virginia, following the opening of a “flagship” store in Pentagon City last year.

For Takumi, a higher-end Japanese restaurant that serves sushi, ramen and more, this will be its first expansion since launching in Columbia, Maryland, in June 2024.

When looking at possible new Luna Hall locations, Hall says Tysons stood out as “the next logical place” to be, building off Chen’s growing presence in Arlington and the team’s general familiarity with the area.

“I really think that we are bringing some good stuff to Tysons area,” he told FFXnow, noting that all of the restaurant group’s partners live in and grew up in the local region. “… Tous Les Jours and Dumpling District have been doing very well in their respective areas that they’ve been open in. So, I think, just in general, we’re excited about getting started in Tysons.”

Luna Hall currently hopes to have a soft opening in Tysons by the end of July and a grand opening celebration in August, if everything stays on schedule. Tous les Jours and Dumpling District will be introduced first, with Takumi and Pelicana Chicken — a Korean chain whose only Virginia location so far is in Annandale’s K Market International supermarket (4239 John Marr Drive) — coming on board later.

Larger than its Chinatown predecessor, Luna Hall Tysons has space for more stalls, so Kung Fu Tea or a “smaller type of dessert concept” might be added in the future, Hall says.

He also noted that, unlike the Chinatown location, Tous les Jours will offer its full menu in Tysons, including cakes, sandwiches, bread, coffee and other pastries and drinks.

The food hall will eventually have a bar, once its alcohol license gets approved.

“It will be a traditional Tous Les Jours experience,” Hall said. “It’s just [that] when people come there, they will have the opportunity to kind of try some of our other stuff too.”

Tous les Jours can also be found in Annandale, Chantilly, Centreville and Burke, with another location on the way in Reston.
