Japanese restaurant Japomen, a popular sushi and ramen spot outside the Dunn Loring Metro station in Merrifield, is heading further south in Fairfax County.
Japomen is under construction in the Hilltop Village Center in Kingstowne at 6460 Old Beulah Street. It will fill a space previously occupied by DonutChew between Mattress Warehouse and Deka Lash.
Opened in the Shops at Avenir Place (2767-J Avenir Place) last October, Japomen started as a stall in the Tilly Kitchen food hall in Chantilly. The concept was developed by co-owner Jason Kang, sushi chef Peter Yoo and restauranteur James Park, who also owns Pike Kitchen in Rockville, Maryland.
The menu features a range of Japanese cuisine, from various types of sushi to rice bowls and ramen dishes.
Staff said the plan is to open the location in Kingstowne sometime later this year, though there are no specific dates for when.
For now, dining options at Hilltop Village Center include chains like Panda Express, Moe’s Southwest Grill, and Burton’s Bar and Grill, along with more local establishments like Baddpizza and Peri-Peri. Bob & Edith’s Diner opened its doors at the shopping center in December 2024.
