A former Fairfax County Public schools contractor will serve prison time after admitting to committing multiple child sex crimes.
Arturo Elmore-Adon was sentenced Thursday (Aug. 29) to 31 years behind bars, though all but seven were suspended by Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Michael F. Devine, according to online court records.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty in March to seven different felony charges, most of them stemming from incidents inside local schools.
After Elmore-Adon was arrested and charged last year with sexually assaulting a child at a store in Reston’s South Lakes Village Center, investigators uncovered seven different videos on his phone that depicted students being “surreptitiously filmed,” FCPD Capt. Dan Spital said at a press conference last September.
The footage appeared to be taken from behind students aged between 6 and 8 years old while they were bent over, with one video appearing to have been taken from an angle to look up one student’s shorts, according to court documents.
Three of the videos were apparently taken at Churchill Road Elementary School in McLean, with the other four appearing to have been taken at Fox Mill Elementary School in Herndon, police said.
He was also connected to six other district elementary schools: Colvin Run and Stenwood in Vienna, Great Falls and Forestville in Great Falls, Haycock in Falls Church and Aldrin in Reston.
Elmore-Adon only worked in FCPS during the 2022-2023 academic year as a contractor with Baroody Camps, Superintendent Michelle Reid previously said in a message to the community. He had been cleared with a background check prior to his placement.
Further investigation of Elmore-Adon’s belongings uncovered an additional 400 videos and photos downloaded from “various international websites,” police said.
Elmore-Adon faced two dozen felony counts before agreeing to a plea deal earlier this year, including 15 counts related to possession of child pornography, according to court records.
Following his release from custody, he will be subject to a four-year period of supervised probation and be required to report to a probation officer. Any additional legal violations during that period could trigger the remainder of his sentence.
