Just a few months after Greenheart Juice abruptly closed its doors in Vienna, a new homegrown, health-focused cafe has moved into the nearly-century-old building it occupied off the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail.
As rumored, the gourmet toast chain Toastique took over Greenheart’s space at 208 Dominion Road NE and now anticipates opening to the public at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The first 100 customers can receive $50 in rewards dollars for future visits as long as they make a purchase worth at least $10. Toastique will continue offering promotions over the next few days:
- Sunday (Nov. 16): Free drip coffee with any purchase $10 or over
- Monday (Nov. 17): $5 for a 12-ounce juice on tap with any purchase all day
- Tuesday (Nov. 18): Free coffee or espresso drink with any purchase
- Wednesday (Nov. 19): $6 for 16-ounce smoothies all day
“From our first taste of Toastique, we were completely hooked. It’s more than just a café; it’s a lifestyle that celebrates health, positivity and community,” franchise co-owner Samreen Khadeer said in a press release.
Founded by former college cheerleader Brianna Keefe, Toastique opened its first location at the Wharf in D.C. in 2018 before expanding to Alexandria and turning to franchising in 2020.
Khadeer and her husband and business partner Shoaib Ahmed began concocting plans to bring Toastique to their home in Vienna after visiting one of the D.C. locations. Per the release, they were impressed by the mix of nutrition and creativity evident in the menu, which centers on a line of gourmet toasts with flavors like avocado smash, PB crunch and spicy crab.
Toastique also serves smoothies, smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juice, coffee, wellness shots, iced collagen lattes, and a variety of grab-and-go items, such as a house blend granola and yogurt parfaits.

Khadeer and Ahmed hope to integrate their franchise into the local community by hosting special events, including weekend tastings and give-back days, and collaborating on pop-ups with fitness studios and other similarly health-centered businesses.
“Whether it’s a spot for a morning smoothie, a post-workout bite or catching up with friends, we hope our store feels like home,” Khadeer said. “Vienna has such an incredible sense of togetherness, and we can’t wait to celebrate that through food, health and connection.”
Open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Vienna location will be Toastique’s first in Fairfax County, though the company has additional locations cooking in Great Falls and Reston.
The Great Falls location is now targeting a December opening at 9891 Georgetown Pike, but no specific date has been identified yet, Toastique Marketing Manager Jolie Richards says.
In Reston, Toastique will join Paris Baguette, Clarity, Dogfish Head Alehouse and more in the expansion of Reston Town Center. It expects to open at 11990 Inspiration Street, Suite 2A, sometime in 2026, according to the company’s website.
The Vienna spot is the only former Greenheart Juice that Toastique is planning to take over “right now,” according to a spokesperson for the gourmet toast chain.
Greenheart owner Reese Gardner closed and sold off all six remaining locations in August, just a month after founder and director of operations Alicia Swanstorm shared plans to transition the business from a juice and smoothie chain into a cafe with a larger food and pastry menu.
