JUST IN: Police arrest man for alleged bomb threat on Fairfax Connector bus

A man who allegedly claimed to have a bomb before boarding a bus in Woodlawn over the weekend has been arrested.

Blake Davis Norton, 57, boarded a Fairfax Connector bus in Woodlawn yesterday (Sunday) after telling the bus’s driver that he had a bomb in his backpack, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a press release today.

Officers responded to the scene of the incident, which occurred in the 8700 block of Richmond Highway, around 10:22 a.m.

After evacuating the bus, the FCPD’s bomb squad searched the backpack and found that it didn’t contain any explosive material, police said.

Norton was arrested and charged with one count of making a bomb threat — a Class 5 felony. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted.

Norton is scheduled to appear in Fairfax County General District Court on Feb. 18, 2026, when a judge will determine whether there is probable cause to send the case to a grand jury.
