A local favorite for a taste of the Mediterranean is now offering more than just quick bites.

Moby Dick House of Kabob, which boasts 30 locations across the D.C. area, recently celebrated the grand opening of Moby’s Market in McLean — adding a grocery element to the restaurant at 6703 Lowell Avenue.

“Our customers have always loved taking a piece of Moby home, from our dips and dressings to our soups,” Moby Dick Chief Operating Officer Alex Momeni said. “Launching a full Moby Market at our flagship location felt like the natural next step.”

The market is located downstairs at the McLean restaurant, which opened earlier this year after relocating from its soon-to-be-redeveloped home on Old Dominion Drive. Its offerings consist of a “curated variety of authentic Iranian goods, designed to offer guests a deeper taste of Persian culinary culture,” according to a press release.

Items for sale include the brand’s dips, soups, stews and other ready-made meals. House-made breads, like flatbread, pita and chips are also available.

Imported products include a “curated assortment” of pantry staples, like Iranian spices, teas and snacks.

“We’ve always been more than a kabob restaurant,” Momeni said. “With the Moby Market, we’re able to bring even more of our heritage to the community we love.”

The market is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant portion of Moby Dick is unaffected by the addition, and continues to offer a variety of kabobs, salads and pitas.
