Another snowstorm is expected to visit Fairfax County and the rest of the D.C. region tomorrow (Sunday).
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory shortly after 9 a.m. that’s expected to take effect at midnight and continue until 10 a.m.
The region is expected to receive between 1 and 3 inches of snow, though higher totals are predicted in a couple of counties in Maryland.
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Virginia division has already finished pre-treating interstates and higher-volume local roads with salt brine, according to an alert sent out yesterday (Friday) afternoon. Plows will begin mobilizing tonight.
“Use extra caution on elevated surfaces such as bridges, ramps, and overpasses, as they freeze first,” the department said. “Be sure to slow down, keep two hands on the wheel, and report icy conditions to 800-FOR-ROAD or my.vdot.virginia.gov.”
Metro says its bus and rail teams are prepared for winter weather, noting that real-time updates for bus riders will be provided on its website.
Fairfax County also has snow-related resources on its website, including a link to VDOT’s snow plow tracker map and tips for safely shoveling snow.
