Easter egg hunt, seasonal cocktails usher in spring at Capital One Center

Capital One Center in Tysons will be hopping with activity this spring, highlighted by the return of its “ultimate” Easter Egg Hunt early next month.

Approximately 3,000 eggs will be strewn across the Great Lawn at The Perch for kids to collect during the popular event, which is set to take place on Saturday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Like last year, the hunt will be complemented by a number of other festivities, including a 1-mile-long Color Fun Run, a petting zoo, an Easter Bunny meet and greet, goat yoga and a paint-and-sip class for adults.

Tickets are required for all participants in the fun run, paint-and-sip class and goat yoga. For the Easter egg hunt, tickets only need to be purchased for participating children, costing $20 with a $3.18 fee tacked on by Eventbrite.

As of press time, both the individual tickets for goat yoga and a bundle with the Color Fun Run were sold out, but tickets for the other activities, including a $44.52 bundle (fees included) for the Color Fun Run and Paint & Sip, are still available.

In a change from last year, the Easter celebration will have more street-level festivities instead of concentrating everything at the elevated Perch.

The Easter Bunny meet and greet and the petting zoo will be located at Metro Park, the plaza that opened late last year near the McLean Metro station’s new entrance. In addition, some of the development’s businesses will be offering promotions throughout the event, including free express manicures from Nothing in Between and a pop-up from Sisters Thai’s Flore Cafe with “festive” hot chocolate, artisan gelato and coffee.

Outside of the Easter celebration, many of the retailers and restaurants at Capital One Center are also marking the season with limited-time, often cherry blossom-themed promotions, according to a press release:

  • Capital One Hall: The Capital Cherry cocktail mixes rum, Luxardo, lime, syrup, cherry and coconut puree. It’s being served at the performing arts venue throughout the spring.
  • Nothing in Between: The nail salon is offering spring and cherry blossom-themed nail art.
  • Sisters Thai: The Thai restaurant is serving a seasonal cocktail, The Pink Kimono, with Haku vodka and sakura syrup through April 12. Its Flore Cafe is also celebrating its first anniversary with a 14-course “Flore in Bloom” high tea that can be reserved in advance.
  • The Watermark Hotel: Guests can book rooms at discounted rates with a “Stay in Bloom” package.
  • Wren Tysons: Seasonal specials available through April 5 include a Hanami Bento Box with king salmon and ikura chirashi, chicken, a mixed greens salad and a mochi donut, along with a Fresh Start cocktail.
  • Stellina Tysons: Cherry blossom negronis and spritzes are being served all season.
  • The Naisho Room: In addition to seasonal dishes and cocktails, the speakeasy-style lounge inside the Watermark Hotel will host a Japanese ’80s Pop Turntable Listening Event on April 1 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Reservations are required.

“Guests will enjoy a cherry blossom-themed experience during dinner service alongside a sampling of seasonal cocktails courtesy of House of Suntory,” the press release said regarding the Naisho Room event.

The coming days will also bring the return of Perch Putt, the mini golf course with food trucks that’s set to reopen at The Perch on Thursday (March 26), and the introduction of pickleball courts to replace the ice skating rink at Metro Park.

On its website, Capital One Center suggests the pickleball courts could open at 1820 Capital One Drive South on March 31, but no official date has been announced yet. Players will be able to book court times through an online reservation system that “will be launching soon.”

Elsewhere in Tysons, Tysons Corner Center’s month-long “Center in Bloom” campaign launched last Friday (March 20), and its “Blossom Bash” celebration — an official National Cherry Blossom Festival event — is set for this coming Sunday (March 29), bringing a retail market, entertainment and a live chalk art contest to the Plaza.
