Construction is progressing on a new townhome neighborhood near the Vantage Hill Condominiums in Reston.
Two buildings containing the first seven of 28 houses planned in The Fairland at Vantage Hill are on track to be completed this summer, likely in July or August, according to Craftmark Homes sales manager Lori Windsor.
As of this Tuesday (April 28), work hadn’t started yet on a third building with homes 8 through 11, but off-site sales are underway, and the building is expected to be delivered by the end of 2026.
“The last settlements would be … first quarter of 2027, or definitely by June,” Windsor estimated when asked about the overall construction timeline for the neighborhood.
With prices starting in the mid-$900,000s, the townhouses can reach up to 2,424 square feet if the owners add an optional fourth-level loft.
The standard three-level, 2,004-square-foot floor plan includes three bedrooms, two full and one half bathroom, and a rec room.
With the loft and an option to turn the lower level into a bedroom and bath instead of a rec room, the homes have a maximum of five bedrooms.
Windsor noted that a variety of custom design options are available, such lighting, plumbing and hardware packages as well as a dry bar, but all the homes will be Energy Star certified with an emphasis on energy efficiency, including all LED lighting.
The homes each have two-vehicle garages with wiring for electric vehicle charging, she said.

The exteriors were designed to fit in with other more contemporary homes in Reston, with a brick front facade and black-trimmed windows. Once completed, the neighborhood will include new sidewalks, trees and a small private park with an artificial turf lawn, a climbing wall and trellis seating, according to the site plan.
“Of course, it’s wonderful that the [Green] Trail is there to walk around Lake Anne,” Windsor said. “… Really, everything is so walkable there. It’s like the old Reston, basically, so to have new homes in the old part of Reston is good.”
Approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in December 2022, the new townhouses are replacing what used to be surface parking and an abandoned swimming pool in the southwestern corner of the Vantage Hill Condominiums.
The land sales for the townhomes will help the condo owners’ association fund long-needed infrastructure upgrades, including electrical improvements that might be necessary to allow individual air-conditioning units after the central cooling system that had served Lake Anne-area residents for decades shut down last year.
Reston Association’s Design Review Board approved plans at its April 21 meeting for new HVAC units and equipment at the Vantage Hill condos, though the development’s management previously indicated that it won’t be able to complete the project until next spring.
Windsor confirmed that the Fairland at Vantage Hill townhomes will all have their own HVAC systems.
