Police investigate fatal stabbing of man at Huntington condo complex

Fairfax County police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man that occurred in Huntington over the weekend as a homicide.

Officers were dispatched to the Farrington Place condominiums in the 2200 block of Farrington Avenue around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday (May 9) for the reported stabbing.

“[Officers] located an adult male victim suffering from trauma to the upper body,” Fairfax County Police Department Public Affairs Bureau commander Capt. Chris Cosgriff said in a brief update early that morning. “The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The FCPD identified the victim later that day as 19-year-old Auner Chavez Diaz, stating that his body was found with multiple stab wounds between two of the condo buildings.

Few details about the circumstances of the stabbing are known right now, but police describe the possible suspect as “black male, approximately 5’7”, and wearing all black clothing and face mask.”

“Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure the family of the victim is receiving appropriate resources and assistance,” the FCPD said.
