A 14-course high tea inspired by the south of France has arrived at Flore Café in Tysons’ Capital One Center.
The cafe inside the Sisters Thai restaurant (7735 Capital One Tower Road) officially launched its seasonal transformation on Saturday (June 6), combining French cuisine and floral touches to offer “Summer in Provence,” a summertime high tea billed as a “sensory escape.”
New decorations create an atmosphere inspired by the historic lavender harvest of Gordes and Valensole, wrapping the restaurant’s terrace “in an evocative palette of rich indigos, soft purples, radiant yellow and silver-sage,” according to a press release,
“With ‘Summer in Provence,’ we wanted to transport our guests straight to the rolling purple hills of Southern France,” founder Tammy Ditsayawathana said in the release. “By bringing together culinary elements inspired by the French countryside alongside premium tea curators like Mariage Frères, we have curated an afternoon that captures the slow, elegant, and aromatic spirit of a French country summer right here in Northern Virginia.”
The 14-course menu features teas from Paris-based tea house Mariage Frères, including the Opéra Blue, Vert Provence and Earl Grey Provence variations. Guests can also try a lavender sprig-topped Provence 75 cocktail made with botanical French gin, lavender syrup, lemon and sparkling wine for a $15 add-on.
The teas are served alongside a variety of sweet and savory bites, including a fig and goat cheese salad, lemon-blueberry scones with jam, an extra virgin olive oil and orange mousse cake and ratatouille and goat cheese tartlets.
Reservations are required for the high tea, which is is priced at $89 per person and will take place on weekends from 11 a.m to 4 p.m.
Flore Café celebrated its grand opening last spring, promising regular high tea service while blending “European elegance with Thai-inspired flavors.”
