After months of speculation and silence, Eataly has finally confirmed that it’s coming to Tysons Corner Center.
The New York-based Italian food and retail chain will open its first location in the D.C. region sometime in 2027, taking over the two-story space vacated in January by American Girl.
The location will feature restaurants, quick-service counters and an Italian marketplace, according to a press release.
Construction to outfit the former American Girl space for new tenants has been underway for weeks, but both Eataly and Tysons Corner Center owner Macerich had declined to publicly confirm until now that a location was planned, despite evidence based on permit applications.
The other restaurants expected to occupy Eataly’s food hall have yet to be announced.
The food blog Eat DC speculated that the popular Taiwanese dim sum chain Din Tai Fung might be on the table, though no permits have been filed along those lines.
A building plan has been submitted to Fairfax County showing the Chinese hot pot restaurant Haidilao in the former American Girl space.

Eataly will occupy a prominent two-level space, featuring both interior access from the shopping center and a dedicated exterior entrance, creating a dynamic destination for guests to shop, dine, and experience authentic Italian food and culture.
Together with Macerich, Eataly at Tysons Corner Center will provide an array of iconic experiences in line with the brand’s “eat, shop, and learn” philosophy: seated restaurants, quick-service counters, and a specialty market offering made-in-Italy products.
Eataly operates 69 locations across 16 countries worldwide, with 20 stores in the United States and Canada.
