A full-floor penthouse at the top of the JW Marriott Residences Reston Station has set a new record for the highest-priced condominium sale in Virginia, the building’s developer announced Wednesday (Aug. 5).
The $10.9 million sale surpassed the previous record set in April at the same building, for $10.25 million. Previously, the record was set in 2024, at $5.95 million for a 27th floor condo in Rosslyn.
The 28th-floor penthouse at the Residences was custom designed in collaboration with its buyer and offers 360-degree sight lines reaching from Tysons to the Blue Ridge Mountains, according to developer Comstock Holding Companies, and real estate firm McWilliams Ballard, which sold the unit.
“We started the design and build out of this penthouse almost two years ago, and to see it go from concept drawings to one of the most spectacular homes in the area has been an incredible journey,” Matt Cummings, who led the sale for McWilliams Ballard, said in a release. “It’s rare to have the opportunity to help a buyer build something this personal in such a sought after community.”
The two companies said that the collection of 90-plus condos in the Residences has generated $115 million in sales since its opening in September 2025. JW Marriott Reston Station also hosts a 247-room hotel.
Aside from the location, the building touts its 24-hour concierge, valet service, resident lounges, fitness studio, rooftop dog park, membership to the VIDA Fitness and Spa in Reston Station, and access to JW Marriott hotel services such as catering and housekeeping.
“This latest record is another important milestone for Reston Station and reflects the demand we continue to see for a truly differentiated residential experience in Northern Virginia,” said Chris Clemente, chairman and CEO of Comstock. “When we envisioned the JW Marriott Residences, our goal was to create something unlike anything else in the market, combining exceptional residences and hospitality with the connectivity, amenities and energy of Reston Station. To see the Residences break their own Virginia sales record within the same year is a strong validation of that vision.”
The sale is merely the latest sign of Reston Station’s booming real estate market. Just last month, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a rezoning application for home builder Pulte Group that would more than double the size of the nearby Lofts at Reston Station. Earlier this week, Comstock also announced that QTS Data Centers signed a lease to occupy the 11th, 12th, and 13th floors at 1800 Reston Row Plaza for the company’s headquarters.
