When Ebbitt House opens at Reston Station this fall, the food and ambiance might stir up memories for former Clyde’s of Reston regulars.
The new restaurant from Clyde’s Restaurant Group is on track to open in the growing Reston Row neighborhood this October, developer Comstock Companies announced earlier this month in an earnings report.
“The team couldn’t be more eager to welcome the community through the doors,” an Ebbitt House spokesperson said by email to FFXnow, confirming the October time frame. “Whether stopping in for happy hour, a family dinner, or a private event, Ebbitt House is designed to have a place for everyone.”
The idea for Ebbitt House took shape as Clyde’s of Reston closed its doors, concluding a 31-year run at Reston Town Center on May 21, 2022.
Seeking to maintain the base it had built over three decades in Reston, the Clyde’s team “didn’t hesitate” when offered the opportunity to bring a different concept to Reston Station, the massive mixed-use development that Comstock is gradually building around the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.
The lease signing was announced in March 2023, and later that year, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved revisions to Comstock’s plans for Reston Station, allowing an outdoor dining area for Ebbitt House, among other changes.
“Reston Station is a dynamic, growing neighborhood, exactly the kind of community gathering place where Clyde’s has always thrived,” the spokesperson said. “For guests who knew Clyde’s of Reston, Ebbitt House will offer the same warmth and hospitality that defined those years, expressed through a new restaurant with its own menu, its own character, and its own place in Reston’s story.”
Taking its name from Old Ebbitt Grill in D.C., another Clyde’s concept, Ebbitt House will share some of the mindset of that longstanding establishment, serving classic American fare with an extensive bar and a raw oyster program. But it won’t be an exact replica.
“Where Old Ebbitt Grill tells the story of Washington, Ebbitt House is writing its own story in Reston,” the spokesperson said, stressing that the Reston venue is “a new restaurant with a new look.”
While a full menu hasn’t been released yet, highlights will include burgers, steak, house-made pastas and seafood, including oysters at the raw bar. Patrons can also expect plenty of shareable options and a drink program that includes wines, beer, and martinis and other cocktails.
The restaurant says its goal is to offer “recognizable, craveable food with a little personality,” allowing some nostalgic touches without “looking backward.”
Despite the emphasis on letting Ebbitt House chart a new path, diners might see a couple of familiar faces: both General Manager Ajay Bhatia and Executive Chef Diego Ramirez are Clyde’s of Reston veterans.
“[I’m] looking forward to coming back to Reston and reconnecting with my regulars,” said Bhatia, who has been working in the restaurant industry for more than 40 years, including nearly a decade with Clyde’s Restaurant Group.
Located at 1860 Reston Row Plaza, Ebbitt House will consist of a 260-seat dining room with two private rooms and two bars. A third bar will be available outside as part of a 125-seat patio.
The restaurant will join a steadily expanding retail lineup at Reston Row that currently includes Noku Sushi, the bakery Tous Les Jours and Vida Fitness, with an indoor golf simulator venue from Back Nine Golf on the way.
Expanding Reston Station north to Sunset Hills Road, Reston Row is now fully built out with the completion of the 419-unit BLVD Haley apartment building and an adjacent 6,000-square-foot retail space earlier this year. The project also encompasses two new office buildings and the JW Marriott Hotel and Residences.
According to Comstock, the $10.9 million sale of the JW Marriott’s penthouse set a Virginia record as the priciest condominium sale in the state. A conference center for the hotel is slated to be delivered this fall, the developer said in its second quarter 2026 financial report.
