A McLean man was sentenced last week following the May 2025 shooting of a man said to have kicked his Tesla.
Kianmehr Shirinipaziziba, 20, was sentenced Friday (Sept. 25) to 10 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter; four years and four months of that sentence were suspended.
On May 23, 2025, Shirinipaziziba was driving on Elden Street in Herndon, where the 39-year-old victim, Jason Andrew Hann, was jumping in front of cars. According to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, witnesses testified that Hann kicked the Tesla and Shirinipaziziba, from inside the car, shot him once in the chest. At the scene, Shirinipaziziba said “I shot him” and “we need to get him some help.” He told officers he thought Hann was reaching for his waist.
Shirinipaziziba was initially charged with second-degree murder. As part of a plea agreement, he pled guilty in May to voluntary manslaughter, and related weapons charges were not prosecuted.
“When the defendant was placed in this situation he responded with violence instead of other reactions that could have avoided this tragic outcome,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano said in a release. “That is textbook voluntary manslaughter and a clear danger to public safety, which is why my office asked for the maximum possible sentence in this case.”
