Fairfax County businesses close, offer specials during snowstorm

It is safe to say that Monday’s snowstorm has impacted every inch of Fairfax County.

As numerous residents and businesses work to dig themselves out of roughly 6 inches of snow, some storefronts have opened their doors to offer various snow day specials. These include:

  • Pupatella (Merrifield and Springfield) offering select $10 pizzas all day long
  • Bear Branch Tavern (133 Maple Ave. E, Vienna) featuring an extended Happy Hour from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Kalypso’s Sports Tavern (1617 Washington Plaza, Reston) is open and hosting snow karaoke at 7:30 p.m.

Other establishments have opted to shrink their hours or outright close for today. These include:

Chantilly

  • River-Sea Chocolates (4520 Daly Drive, Chantilly) is closed

Annandale/Dunn Loring/Merrifield

  • The Block Foodhall and Bar (4221 John Marr Drive, Annandale) is closed
  • The Casual Pint (2676 Avenir Place, Dunn Loring) will open at 3 p.m.
  • Urbano Tex-Mex Restaurant (2985 District Avenue, Merrifield) will open at 2 p.m.

Tysons/McLean/Vienna

  • Fresh Baguette (6707 Old Dominion Drive, McLean) is closing at 2 p.m.
  • Royal Nepal Bistro (131 Maple Avenue W, Vienna) is closed
  • Tysons Galleria is closed
  • The Virginian Restaurant (169 Glyndon Street SE, Vienna) is closing at 12:30 p.m.

Additionally, the following public services have opted to close or have been impacted by the inclement weather:

  • Fairfax County Public Schools (closed)
  • Fairfax Connector bus services (suspended)
  • County trash collection (no collection Monday)
  • Fairfax County government (closed)
  • Fairfax County courts (closed)
