Upscale pajama boutique expands from NYC to the Mosaic District

A luxury pajama brand is expanding for the first time with the opening of a store in the Mosaic District.

BedHead PJs will open at 2910 District Avenue in the Merrifield neighborhood this Saturday (Aug. 22), with a custom monogramming station running from 1-3 p.m. to mark the opening.

“We’re incredibly excited to join the Mosaic community and become part of such a vibrant destination,” Michelle Barresi, BedHead’s vice president of brand and marketing, said in a press release. “We look forward to introducing BedHead PJs to the neighborhood, connecting with new customers, and creating a space that feels fun, welcoming, and uniquely Bedhead.”

The Mosaic District location will be BedHead’s second brick-and-mortar store, joining a flagship that launched in New York City’s West Village in October 2024.

Founded in 1998 by Los Angeles designer Renee Claire, BedHead initially operated a store in West Hollywood, while also selling its garments through other boutiques and department stores, such as Nordstrom. It was acquired in 2017 by the New Jersey-based company Komar.

Drawn to the Mosaic District by the area’s demographics, concentration of online customers and reliable foot traffic, Komar intends to continue expanding BedHead’s brick-and-mortar footprint with a target of up to 10 stores across the U.S. “in the next five to eight years,” marketing vice president Michelle Barresi told the Washington Business Journal in April.

The 850-square-foot store in Merrifield will feature printed pajama sets, robes, and loungewear. Prices for a woman’s pajama set appear to start at around $73, with most in the $100-$150 range.

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The brand is the latest to join the Mosaic District this summer. As FFXnow previously reported, Pura Vida Miami opened a health-focused cafe at the end of May, and the custom rug brand Ernesta opened a showroom in June.

The Italian restaurant Alta Strada announced this summer that it would leave the Mosaic District after nearly a decade at 2910 District Avenue.
