Two Virginia State Police troopers saved a woman from potentially drowning last night (Sunday) after she crashed into a pond off of I-66.

Police and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units were dispatched to an eastbound I-66 ramp near Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) in Oakton around 9:40 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle sinking into a retention pond, per scanner traffic.

A residential development that promised to introduce a new housing option to the Town of Vienna is getting closer to welcoming its first occupants.

Under construction since early 2024, The Grove on Park condominiums at 133 Park Street NE are on track to deliver their first completed units by the end of this year, likely in late November, according to The Mayhood Company, which is managing sales of the homes.

A Springfield man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcyclist in May.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, detectives determined that Michael Burghardt, 46, was driving a 2022 BMW M440i north in the southbound lanes of Rolling Road when he hit a southbound motorcyclist near Delong Drive in Newington on May 12.

An apparent dispute between a customer and the employees of a nightclub in Woodlawn took a dangerous turn last weekend, police say.

Officers were dispatched to Club One in Woodlawn Shopping Center (8786 Richmond Highway) at 12:58 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 13) after a caller reported a man brandishing a gun, according to the police scanner.

The convenience store chain 7-Eleven will be slightly less ubiquitous by the end of 2024.

The store inside Tysons Corner Center closed permanently on Sept. 23, a mall spokesperson recently confirmed to FFXnow. More closures may be coming in the weeks ahead, as 7-Eleven plans to shutter 444 “underperforming” locations across North America.

Vienna’s plan to build a public aquatics and fitness center has already secured one major backer.

Navy Federal Credit Union — the town’s largest employer with 5,100 people working at its corporate headquarters (820 Follin Lane) — has offered to provide funding for the facility’s design, the Town of Vienna announced last Thursday (Oct. 10).
