Police seek man behind alleged robbery of driver in Herndon area

Fairfax County police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed and threatened a driver in the Herndon area over the weekend.

Officers responded to the reported robbery at the Parcher Avenue and Springer Drive intersection in Hutchison, just west of the Town of Herndon, at 2:44 p.m. on Saturday (June 20), according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Update — The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on Thursday, June 25 that the Dulles Toll Road lane split will be postponed until after the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

“We will send out an update once everything is confirmed,” a VDOT spokesperson told FFXnow.

UPDATED: Springfield Town Center cleared after reported bomb threat

Springfield Town Center has been deemed safe after shoppers and workers were evacuated due to a bomb threat.

Officers were dispatched to the mall (6500 Springfield Mall) at around 4:28 p.m. today (Tuesday) after an unknown person called in a threat, the Fairfax County Police Department said.

A man arrested last year after allegedly speeding, fleeing from police and subsequently attempting to carjack another driver on I-95 in Lorton will serve time in federal prison for gun possession.

Jamarion Dawon Jackson, 23, was sentenced today (Tuesday) to four years in prison after pleading guilty in April to possessing a machine gun during the police chase and carjacking incident, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced.

Thousands of residents in Fairfax County, particularly the Burke area, are grappling with the aftermath of yesterday’s thunderstorm.

As of 11 a.m., more than 1,400 homes and businesses in the county were still without electricity, including about 700 customers in the Burke, Springfield and Fairfax area south of George Mason University’s campus, according to Dominion Energy.

Fairfax Circuit Court launches online learning center with civil rights focus

The Fairfax County Circuit Court is now offering an online education hub for students and other Fairfax County residents interested in the local court system and its history to explore.

Officially launched last Wednesday (June 17), the Judicial Learning Center of Fairfax County is the first resource of its kind provided by any state trial court in the U.S., according to Fairfax Clerk of Court Chris Falcon.

N. Va. officials stress safety, as e-bikes become more common, faster

Local police and parks officials across Northern Virginia are working to raise awareness of how to safely ride and share paths with electric bicycles in response to reported upticks in complaints about reckless behavior.

Over the past month, the Vienna Police Department has been sharing information about safe and legal riding practices, while also stepping up patrols in areas where concerns have cropped up as part of an E-Bike Safety Awareness Campaign launched on May 29.

Two men were injured in a stabbing earlier this month in the Hunters Woods area of Reston, police say.

Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Colts Neck Road on June 8 shortly after 7 p.m. for the reported stabbing, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Four pedestrians have been killed in crashes on Fairfax County roads within the past two days, bringing the total death toll for 2026 up to 10.

Fairfax County police officers responded at around 3:38 a.m. today (Friday) to Little River Turnpike at Southland Avenue in Lincolnia after an adult man was struck by the driver of an eastbound 2018 Honda Civic.
