Construction is getting underway on a partial revamp of the George Washington Memorial Parkway and Route 123 (Dolley Madison Blvd) interchange in McLean.

The ramps that connect southbound GW Parkway to westbound Route 123 and vice versa has closed starting today (Monday) so that work can begin on two new ramps, the National Park Service (NPS) announced last week.

A D.C.-based real estate firm is looking to redevelop more of the office buildings in McNair’s Woodland Park area just south of Herndon with housing.

The Parkline at Woodland Park neighborhood would replace three “underperforming” office buildings at 2291 Wood Oak Drive with “much-needed opportunities for homeownership,” a legal representative for the Pinkard Group said in a July 30 statement to Fairfax County.

A Henrico man is facing charges after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase last night (Wednesday) that concluded with a crash off of I-395 in Lincolnia.

According to the Virginia State Police, a trooper attempted to stop the driver of a Honda sedan who was travelling north “at a high rate of speed” on I-95 near Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge around 10:29 p.m. yesterday. When the driver didn’t stop, the trooper initiated a pursuit.

The Trump administration has released a new list of localities and states it considers “sanctuary jurisdictions,” and Fairfax County is no longer on it.

The Justice Department identified some three dozen states, cities and counties as so-called sanctuary jurisdictions on Tuesday (Aug. 5), two months after the federal government quietly removed a much longer list that included many localities that support the Trump administration’s hard-line immigration policies.

A defense contractor that manufactures weapons, armored vehicles, and other military systems is setting up a new base in Merrifield.

Two U.S. subsidiaries of the German company Rheinmetall have leased nearly 10,000 square feet of office space at Metro Place II (2600 Park Tower Drive) in Merrifield, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) announced yesterday (Tuesday).
